Update to the Special Update (27-Dec-99)
Here's what I know in addition to what I wrote in September (below):
- Progress is being made on the official Mojo web site. I've had the
opportunity to preview a test version and, believe me, you're going to
love the official web site when it is officially unveiled!
- A deal was in place to make Mojo's older recordings available again,
but a merger between two web music sites has delayed things a bit. We'll
have to be patient for a little while longer...

Special Update: Availability of Old Mojo Nixon Recordings and Mojo on the Web
This update is intented to share some exciting information I received that will be of interest to all Mojo fans. This update discusses plans, and plans don't always work out as intended. So, be aware that what's discussed below might not turn out exactly as described, especially in terms of timing.
Availability of Old Mojo Nixon Recordings
Mojo's management is currently in discussions with several internet companies for the re-release of the entire Mojo Nixon catalog. That includes all the songs from the first album, Frenzy, the Get Outta My Way! EP, Bo-Day-Shus!!!, Root Hog or Die, Otis, Whereabouts Unknown, Gadzooks!!! and some unreleased and rare tracks. The plan is to have a site where you can go and pick songs to have "burned" onto a custom CD. Another possibility is that internet-savvy Mojo fans will be able download songs. This will make the entire catalogue available without Mojo having to enter into a standard record deal.
Mojo's management is looking for a partner for this venture now and hopefully by December every Mojo track (excluding the X-Mas album, the Jello Biafra team-up, Sock Ray Blue and the Pleasure Barons album) will be available. Just over 100 songs.
There is no definite plans at this time for traditional releases of the old records or a retail "greatest hits" release.
Mojo on the Web
Once the back catalog is available again, Mojo's management will also be putting more effort into Mojonixon.com. The focus of Mojonixon.com will be on photos and videos. Mojo's manager has stated that "I am sitting on hundreds of photos (I shot most of the album covers and always had a camera on the road in the early days) and the videos that have never been seen by most of the fans."
Stay tuned to the Mojo Nixon Schoolbook Depository for further updates as they occur.
